Excellent advice from Emerson. Ralph W. was the man, he absolutely knew how to live each day to its utmost right there in the middle of the moment. And he knew how to let it go and begin each day on a fresh slate. I need to commit this to memory, and have it pop up in the back of my psyche every day – sort of like a background screen for my brain.

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”
